My daughter recently gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Marlee Rae. When I say little, I mean LITTLE. Well, at least to me. She weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 18 inches long. MY babies were all between 8 and 10 plus pounds so that’s why I say she was LITTLE. Anyway, I got the chance to sneak in some newborn pictures over the weekend and thought I would share some. Maybe give a few tips from this novice of a photographer too. Here’s a few from Saturday:
This shot was the one that I most desired to get. I have to say with newborn photography you MUST MUST MUST have patience. You need to have them comfy cozy, warm and well fed so that they will stay asleep for you. The best window of time to do the really newbie shots would be between 5-10 days. That is when they are still sleeping alot! And they are still all “bendy, squishy”.
I feel when it comes to editing/photoshopping your photos it is best to stay with softer or even black and white photos.
So when I edit, I get the photo to my right, suitable color or black and white and then sharpen for web for posting online and there ya go! Until next time!

Gorgeous photos! I know what you mean my first few kids were all around 9lbs. Our youngest was only 6lbs. I didn’t know what to do with a 6 pounder!
Oh Anita, she is beautiful! I wish I would have gotten these types of pics when my two were newborns!
